Darrel Rengel
MSN, FNP-BCHi, my name is Darrel Rengel, and I'm a Family Nurse Practitioner. I completed my nursing degree at CUNY Hunter and earned my Master's degree at LIU Brooklyn. Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, I worked as a pediatric nurse in primary care for 8 years, which is where my passion for caring for children really grew.
I'm a native New Yorker, mainly raised in Queens, and I'm proud of my Ecuadorian heritage. I understand the importance of community and family, and I bring that into the way I care for my patients.
In my free time, I enjoy playing basketball and video games when I can—though it's getting a little harder to keep up these days. Caring for children at Essen has been a truly rewarding experience, and I'm committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care to every child and family I serve. I'm here to support your child's health every step of the way and proudly serve families across the Bronx.
Lorena Tobias
DNP, CPNPLorena Tobias, DNP, is a dedicated pediatric clinician, educator, and healthcare leader who is deeply committed to caring for children and supporting families with compassion and respect. As an International Medical Graduate with training in Pediatrics, she brings both clinical expertise and a genuine understanding of the diverse communities she serves. She also holds a PhD in Educational Management, reflecting her passion for both patient care and education.
Dr. Tobias has been recognized throughout her career for her dedication and excellence, receiving honors such as Most Outstanding Intern, Most Outstanding Pediatric Resident, and Academic and Clinical Excellence Awards during her doctoral training. She was also named Essen Health Care's Outstanding Woman in Healthcare and received the Preceptor Excellence Award for her impact on both patient care and mentoring future providers.
Beyond her work with patients, Dr. Tobias previously served as a School Director in Jersey City, NJ, where she helped guide and inspire future healthcare professionals.
At the heart of her work is a strong belief in humanistic care—treating every child and family with kindness, dignity, and understanding. Dr. Tobias takes the time to listen, support, and partner with families, ensuring every child receives the thoughtful, high-quality care they deserve. She is proud to serve and care for families in the Bronx community.
Rebecca Yamraj
DNP, FNP-BCRebecca Yamraj is a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of healthcare experience, specializing in pediatrics. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, she brings a deep understanding of multicultural communities and a strong commitment to providing culturally competent care.
Dr. Yamraj is passionate about caring for children and supporting families with compassion and respect. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Public Health Administration from the University of South Alabama and completed her Family Nurse Practitioner training at Utica University.
Beyond the exam room, she has spent seven years educating and mentoring future nurses and nurse practitioners, reflecting her commitment to strengthening the next generation of healthcare providers. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, dining out, and exploring new cuisines.

Akua Sekyere
MSN, FNP-CAkua Sekyere, FNP-C, is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in pediatrics at Essen Health Care. Born and raised in New York City, she has a deep connection to the communities she serves and understands the diverse needs of Bronx families.
She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Long Island University Brooklyn and brings over seven years of experience in pediatric nursing, along with a background in public health. Akua is passionate about caring for children and helping families build strong, healthy foundations.
With family roots in Ghana, West Africa, she brings a culturally aware and compassionate approach to her care, with a strong commitment to improving health outcomes and supporting families from all backgrounds.
Outside of her clinical work, Akua enjoys traveling and exploring different cultures. She is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care and building trusting relationships with the families she serves. She is here to support your child's health every step of the way and proudly care for families across the Bronx.
